INCEPTION

A student-led initiative for expanding educational opportunities in Nabinagar

Inception is a community-driven, student-led organization working to create educational opportunities for students in Nabinagar Upazila that are often difficult to access locally.

We believe that a student's potential should not be limited by where they live or by the opportunities available around them. Across Bangladesh, students have opportunities to participate in mathematics olympiads, academic competitions, debates, science exhibitions, creative activities, workshops, and other experiences that can broaden their skills and ambitions. Yet many of these opportunities remain uncommon—or entirely absent—in smaller local communities.

Inception exists to help close that gap. Our work is built around a simple idea: Students in Nabinagar deserve opportunities too.

Where It Began

The story of Inception began in 2019, when a group of Class 9 students from Nabinagar Govt. Pilot High School's SSC 2021 batch traveled to Dhaka to participate in an educational festival. That single experience left us with a lingering question: Why don't we have things like this here?

At the time, there was very little opportunity in our locality for students to participate in the kinds of academic activities and student festivals that were becoming familiar to students in larger cities. So, instead of waiting for someone else to organize them, we decided to try it ourselves.

While we were still school students, we organized our very first mathematics olympiad and treasure hunt. It was a modest beginning with just over 40 participants, entirely student-funded, with a participation cost of only BDT 10. Following the event, our school authorities appreciated the initiative so much that they hosted a treat for the organizers. It was small, but it proved that something like this could be done.

Then, the world came to a halt with a global pandemic.

The interruption lasted far longer than we expected, taking years for the initiative to regain momentum. But when we finally started again, we did so under a formal name: Inception. The name reflects exactly what we wanted the organization to represent—the beginning of something new.

What We Do

Inception organizes educational and extracurricular programs for students, with a particular focus on opportunities that are rarely available in our locality. Our activities have included:

We have engaged students from numerous schools across Nabinagar Upazila, reaching well over 150 individual students. Our programs are designed not simply to test students, but to give them experiences. We want students to solve unfamiliar problems, compete, create, collaborate, think independently, discover new interests, and, perhaps most importantly, realize that these opportunities can exist in their own community.

The Evolution of Our Festivals

Our education festivals have grown gradually, fueled purely by the efforts of student volunteers.

When we returned after our long interruption, we hosted a festival featuring debate and quiz competitions that attracted dozens of students. Participation was entirely free, funded primarily by the organizers themselves. We also made sure to provide a free, proper lunch for the participants. The response from that day stayed with us forever. Afterward, several students left handwritten letters expressing their appreciation and encouraging us to continue organizing such programs in Nabinagar.

As the initiative gained momentum in subsequent editions, it grew substantially. We expanded to host over a hundred students, introducing Geometry Olympiads, Art Competitions, and Science Project Showcases.

Once again, participation was free. Once again, the organizers carried most of the financial burden. And once again, we provided participants with a proper lunch, such as biryani, free of charge. We believe that when children spend hours participating in an event organized for them, feeding them is not an optional luxury. It is part of our responsibility.

We quickly saw that students and families were recognizing the value of these programs. Guardians began personally bringing their children to participate, while students expressed deep appreciation for making room for academic challenge, creativity, teamwork, and hands-on learning in Nabinagar.

More Than a Competition

For us, an educational festival is not simply about producing winners. It is about creating an environment where students can experience something they may not otherwise encounter in their everyday academic lives.

A student may discover an interest in mathematics through an olympiad. Another may discover confidence through debate. Another may find a passion for science by building a project, or simply leave with the realization that learning can be exciting. That is the kind of impact we want to create.

One participant from Gopalpur High School wrote a letter thanking the organizers for the hospitality, expressing a wish that Nabinagar would continue to become a place filled with such educational festivals. For us, moments like this are more meaningful than any number on a poster.

The Uplift Program

Our work does not end with events. We launched the Uplift Program to provide direct educational financial support to students who need it.

Through a teacher's recommendation, we identified a student whose father had passed away and whose family was facing financial difficulty. The student had siblings and was giving private tuition to help support the family. Through Uplift, we provided the student with BDT 1,000 per month for six months, delivering a total of BDT 6,000 directly to her. We hoped the support would ease some of the financial pressure surrounding her education.

While the initial scholarship was completed as planned, we intend to restart the program with new students as resources become available. Our goal is simple: support as many students as we can.

Why We Remain Free

Almost all of our activities are free for participating students. We deliberately choose this model because we do not want a student's ability to participate to depend on whether their family can afford a registration fee.

The same principle applies to our meals. We believe that if we invite students to spend their time learning and competing with us, taking care of them throughout that experience is our responsibility.

Built by Students, for Students

Inception is fundamentally a student-led organization. We maintain an active volunteer base, with a dedicated core group that remains consistently involved. We have personally financed almost all of our activities, with volunteers contributing upwards of BDT 20,000 collectively over the course of our work, alongside limited external support.

This independence allows us to keep participation free. But it is also our greatest challenge. Students cannot always afford to finance an organization from their own earnings. We have reached a point where our ambition is growing faster than our resources.

A Collective, Not a Conventional Committee

Inception deliberately does not operate like a conventional committee-based organization. There are no permanent hierarchical positions. Instead, we work as a collective.

Ideas are discussed together. Decisions are made together. Responsibility belongs to everyone. When a task requires someone to take charge—such as handling finances for a specific period—that responsibility is assigned temporarily, rather than attached permanently to a title. We believe that removing unnecessary hierarchy reduces internal politics and allows people to participate because they genuinely want to contribute. For us, Inception is about working as a unit rather than working for a title.

Where We Are Going

Our long-term vision is much larger than an annual festival. We want Inception to become a sustained educational platform for Nabinagar. In the future, we want to expand into:

We want schools to see Inception as a reliable educational partner. We want more students to discover abilities they did not know they possessed. And ultimately, we want fewer students in Nabinagar to lose out on their potential simply because the opportunities were never available.

The Road Ahead

Following the 2026 Olympiad, we are planning future editions of our annual festivals and looking for ways to bring together more students for Olympiads, Treasure Hunts, Art Competitions, and Science Showcases. We also want to invite students from schools beyond the group we have traditionally reached.

But growth requires resources. Our challenge is no longer whether students are interested—they are. Our challenge is whether a volunteer organization built largely from personal contributions can continue to provide these opportunities at the scale our community deserves. That is why we are seeking partnerships, sponsorships, and donations from institutions and individuals who believe in expanding educational opportunities for young people.

Our Vision

We envision an Inception where a student in Nabinagar does not have to travel to a major city to discover opportunities that could change the way they see education. Where olympiads, science projects, debates, creative competitions, and mentorship are part of the educational culture of the community. Where students themselves become the people who build those opportunities for the next generation.

We started Inception with a question: “Why don't we do this here?”

We are still trying to answer that question. Only now, the question is much bigger: “What else can we build here?”

This is Inception. The beginning of something new.

নবীনগরে শিক্ষার সুযোগ ছড়িয়ে দিতে শিক্ষার্থীদের নিজস্ব একটি উদ্যোগ

ইনসেপশন মূলত শিক্ষার্থীদের গড়া এবং পরিচালিত এমন একটি প্ল্যাটফর্ম, যা নবীনগর উপজেলার শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য এমন সব শিক্ষামূলক সুযোগ তৈরি করতে কাজ করছে—যা সাধারণত মফস্বলে সহজে মেলে না।

আমরা বিশ্বাস করি, একজন শিক্ষার্থী কোথায় থাকে বা তার আশপাশের সুযোগ কতটা সীমিত—তা দিয়ে তার মেধা বা ভবিষ্যৎ আটকে থাকা উচিত নয়। সারা বাংলাদেশেই শিক্ষার্থীরা ম্যাথ অলিম্পিয়াড, পড়াশোনা-বিষয়ক নানা প্রতিযোগিতা, বিতর্ক, সায়েন্স ফেয়ার, ক্রিয়েটিভ কাজ কিংবা বিভিন্ন ওয়ার্কশপে অংশ নিয়ে নিজেদের দক্ষতা ও স্বপ্নকে বড় করার সুযোগ পায়। কিন্তু আমাদের মতো ছোট এলাকাগুলোতে এসব সুযোগ একদমই দেখা যায় না।

ইনসেপশন কাজ করছে এই ফারাকটা ঘুচিয়ে দিতেই। আমাদের ভাবনাটা একেবারেই সহজ-সরল: নবীনগরের ছেলেমেয়েদেরও এসব সুযোগ পাওয়ার পূর্ণ অধিকার আছে।

শুরুটা যেভাবে

ইনসেপশনের পেছনের গল্পটা শুরু হয় যখন নবীনগরের একদল শিক্ষার্থী ঢাকায় একটি এডুকেশনাল ফেস্টিভ্যালে অংশ নিতে যায়। সেখানকার অভিজ্ঞতা তাদের মনে একটি সোজা প্রশ্ন জাগিয়ে তোলে: “আমাদের এখানে এমন কিছু হয় না কেন?”

তখন আমাদের এলাকায় বড় বড় শহরের মতো ম্যাথ কম্পিটিশন বা স্টুডেন্ট ফেস্টিভ্যালে অংশ নেওয়ার সুযোগ ছিল না বললেই চলে। তাই অন্য কেউ এসে এসব করে দেবে—সেই অপেক্ষায় বসে না থেকে আমরা নিজেরাই মাঠে নেমে পড়ার সিদ্ধান্ত নিই।

আমরা যখন নিজেরাও স্কুলের ছাত্র, তখনই সম্পূর্ণ নিজেদের পকেটের খরচে মাত্র ১০ টাকা রেজিস্ট্রেশন ফিতে একটি ম্যাথ অলিম্পিয়াড ও ট্রেজার হান্ট আয়োজন করে ফেলি। ইভেন্ট শেষে আমাদের স্কুলের শিক্ষকরা এই উদ্যোগের এত প্রশংসা করেছিলেন যে, তারা আয়োজকদের একটি ছোটখাটো ট্রিটও দিয়েছিলেন। আয়োজনটা আকারে ছোট ছিল ঠিকই, কিন্তু এটা প্রমাণ করে দিয়েছিল যে চাইলে এমন কিছু আসলেই করা সম্ভব।

এরপর বৈশ্বিক মহামারির কারণে সবকিছু থমকে গেল।

বিরতিটা আমাদের ভাবনার চেয়েও অনেক বেশি লম্বা হয়ে গিয়েছিল। উদ্যোগটাকে নতুন করে দাঁড় করাতে বেশ কয়েক বছর লেগে যায়। কিন্তু যখন আমরা আবার নতুন উদ্যমে শুরু করি—তখন আত্মপ্রকাশ করি একটি আনুষ্ঠানিক পরিচয়ে: ইনসেপশন। নামটা ঠিক সেটাই তুলে ধরে যা আমরা হতে চেয়েছিলাম—নতুন কিছুর সূচনা।

আমরা কী করি

ইনসেপশন মূলত শিক্ষার্থীদের পড়াশোনা ও সহশিক্ষা কার্যক্রম নিয়ে কাজ করে, বিশেষ করে যেসব সুযোগ আমাদের এলাকায় সহজে মেলে না। আমাদের এযাবৎকালের আয়োজনে ছিল:

এখন পর্যন্ত নবীনগর উপজেলার অসংখ্য স্কুলের দেড় শতাধিক শিক্ষার্থীর কাছে আমরা পৌঁছাতে পেরেছি। আমাদের এই আয়োজনগুলো কেবল পরীক্ষা নেওয়ার জন্য নয়, বরং তাদের নতুন কোনো অভিজ্ঞতার মুখোমুখি করার জন্য। আমরা চাই শিক্ষার্থীরা নতুন ধরনের সমস্যার সমাধান করুক, সুস্থ প্রতিযোগিতায় নামুক, কিছু বানিয়ে দেখাক, স্বাধীনভাবে ভাবুক, নতুন কোনো ভালো লাগার বিষয় খুঁজে পাক—আর বিশ্বাস করতে শিখুক যে এসব চমৎকার অভিজ্ঞতা তাদের নিজের এলাকাতেই পাওয়া সম্ভব।

আমাদের এডুকেশন ফেস্টিভ্যালগুলোর বিবর্তন

শিক্ষার্থী স্বেচ্ছাসেবীদের হাত ধরেই ধাপে ধাপে আমাদের ফেস্টিভ্যালগুলো বড় হয়েছে।

লম্বা বিরতি কাটিয়ে যখন আমরা ফিরে আসি, তখন বিতর্ক আর কুইজ প্রতিযোগিতা দিয়ে সাজানো আমাদের উৎসবে বহু শিক্ষার্থী অংশ নেয়। কোনো ফি ছাড়াই অংশ নেওয়ার সুযোগ ছিল, আর খরচ মেটানো হয়েছিল আয়োজক শিক্ষার্থীদের নিজেদের পকেট থেকেই। আমরা সবার জন্য ভালো মানের দুপুরের খাবারের ব্যবস্থাও রেখেছিলাম। অনুষ্ঠান শেষে অনেকেই নিজ হাতে চিঠি লিখে তাদের ভালো লাগার কথা জানিয়েছিল এবং নবীনগরে এমন আয়োজন চালিয়ে যাওয়ার অনুরোধ করেছিল—সেই স্মৃতি আমাদের মনে আজও গেঁথে আছে।

সময়ের সাথে সাথে আমাদের উদ্যোগটি আরও বড় রূপ নেয়। আমরা জিওমেট্রি অলিম্পিয়াড, সায়েন্স প্রজেক্ট শোকেস এবং চিত্রাঙ্কন প্রতিযোগিতার মতো নতুন নতুন সেগমেন্ট যুক্ত করি এবং অংশগ্রহণকারীর সংখ্যা শতক ছাড়িয়ে যায়।

বরাবরের মতোই কোনো ফি ছিল না, আর খরচের সিংহভাগ আয়োজকরা নিজেরাই কাঁধে তুলে নিয়েছিল। অংশগ্রহণকারী সবাইকে ফ্রিতে দুপুরের খাবার পরিবেশন করা হয়েছিল। আমরা মন থেকে বিশ্বাস করি—বাচ্চারা যখন তাদের জন্য আয়োজিত একটি অনুষ্ঠানে ঘণ্টার পর ঘণ্টা সময় দেয়, তখন তাদের মুখে খাবার তুলে দেওয়া কোনো বিলাসিতা নয়, এটা আমাদের দায়িত্ব।

আমরা দেখলাম, অভিভাবক ও শিক্ষার্থীরা এসব প্রোগ্রামের গুরুত্ব বুঝতে শুরু করেছেন। অনেক অভিভাবক নিজ দায়িত্বে সন্তানদের নিয়ে আসতে শুরু করলেন, আর দিনশেষে শিক্ষার্থীদের চোখেমুখে ছিল বাঁধভাঙা আনন্দ।

কেবল একটা প্রতিযোগিতা নয়

আমাদের কাছে একটি এডুকেশন ফেস্টিভ্যাল মানে কেবল কয়েকজন বিজয়ী খুঁজে বের করা নয়। এর মূল উদ্দেশ্য এমন একটি পরিবেশ তৈরি করা, যেখানে শিক্ষার্থীরা গণ্ডিবদ্ধ স্কুল জীবনের বাইরে গিয়ে আলাদা কিছুর স্বাদ পায়।

অলিম্পিয়াডের মাধ্যমে হয়তো কেউ গণিতের প্রেমে পড়বে, বিতর্কের মঞ্চে কেউ খুঁজে পাবে আত্মবিশ্বাস। প্রজেক্ট বানাতে গিয়ে হয়তো কেউ বিজ্ঞানের নেশায় পড়বে, অথবা অন্তত এই অনুভূতি নিয়ে ফিরবে যে পড়াশোনা আসলে দারুণ আনন্দের হতে পারে।

গোপালপুর উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়ের এক শিক্ষার্থী আমাদের আয়োজনে অংশ নেওয়ার পর একটি চিঠি লিখে সুন্দর আতিথেয়তার জন্য ধন্যবাদ জানায় এবং আশা প্রকাশ করে যেন নবীনগর এমন সুন্দর শিক্ষামূলক উৎসবে মুখরিত একটি জায়গায় পরিণত হয়। আমাদের কাছে পোস্টারের যেকোনো সংখ্যার চেয়ে এই ধরনের আন্তরিক অনুভূতিগুলোর মূল্য অনেক বেশি।

দ্য আপলিফট প্রোগ্রাম

আমাদের কাজ কেবল ইভেন্ট আয়োজনেই সীমাবদ্ধ নয়। আর্থিক টানাপোড়েনে থাকা শিক্ষার্থীদের সরাসরি পাশে দাঁড়াতে আমরা চালু করি 'আপলিফট প্রোগ্রাম'।

একজন শিক্ষকের সুপারিশে আমরা এমন এক ছাত্রীকে খুঁজে পাই যার বাবা মারা গেছেন এবং পরিবারটি বেশ আর্থিক কষ্টে দিন কাটাচ্ছিল। মেয়েটি পড়াশোনার পাশাপাশি টিউশনি করে সংসারে সাহায্য করার চেষ্টা করছিল। 'আপলিফট'-এর মাধ্যমে আমরা মাসে ১,০০০ টাকা করে টানা ৬ মাস—সর্বমোট ৬,০০০ টাকা সরাসরি তার হাতে তুলে দিই। আমাদের চাওয়া ছিল তার আর্থিক চাপ যেন কিছুটা হলেও কমে।

প্রাথমিক বৃত্তিটি পরিকল্পনা অনুযায়ী সম্পন্ন হলেও, নতুন শিক্ষার্থীকে সহায়তা করার মতো রিসোর্স পাওয়া গেলে আমরা এই প্রোগ্রাম আবার চালু করতে চাই। আমাদের লক্ষ্য খুব সাদামাটা: যত বেশি সম্ভব শিক্ষার্থীর পাশে থাকা।

কেন আমরা সব আয়োজন ফ্রি রাখি?

আমাদের প্রায় সব কার্যক্রমে অংশ নেওয়া একদম ফ্রি। আমরা ইচ্ছে করেই এই নীতি ধরে রেখেছি, কারণ আমরা চাই না ফি দেওয়ার সামর্থ্য না থাকার কারণে কোনো বাচ্চার শেখার সুযোগ হাতছাড়া হোক।

একই কথা খাটে আমাদের খাবারের ক্ষেত্রেও। শিক্ষার্থীরা যখন তাদের মূল্যবান সময় আমাদের আয়োজনে দিচ্ছে, তখন পুরোটা সময় তাদের যত্ন নেওয়া আমাদেরই দায়িত্বের অংশ।

শিক্ষার্থীদের গড়া, শিক্ষার্থীদেরই জন্য

ইনসেপশন পুরোদস্তুর শিক্ষার্থীদের দ্বারাই পরিচালিত একটি দল। আমাদের একটি নিয়মিত মূল ভলান্টিয়ার টিম রয়েছে। অল্প কিছু সহায়তার বাইরে ভলান্টিয়াররা নিজেরাই নিজেদের জমানো ২০,০০০ টাকারও বেশি চাঁদা দিয়ে এই উদ্যোগকে বাঁচিয়ে রেখেছে।

এটার কারণেই আমরা স্বাধীনভাবে কাজ করতে পেরেছি এবং ইভেন্টগুলো ফ্রি রাখতে পেরেছি। কিন্তু এটাই আমাদের সবচেয়ে বড় চ্যালেঞ্জ। সব সময় নিজেদের পকেটের টাকা দিয়ে সংগঠন চালানো সম্ভব হয়ে ওঠে না। আমরা এমন পর্যায়ে পৌঁছেছি যেখানে আমাদের স্বপ্নের পরিধি আর্থিক সামর্থ্যের চেয়ে অনেক দ্রুত বড় হচ্ছে।

কোনো গৎবাঁধা কমিটি নয়, আমরা একটা কালেক্টিভ

ইনসেপশন প্রচলিত পদ-পদবি বা কমিটিভিত্তিক ধারায় চলে না। এখানে কোনো স্থায়ী উঁচু-নিচু পদ নেই। বরং আমরা কাজ করি একটা 'কালেক্টিভ' হিসেবে।

আইডিয়া নিয়ে সবাই মিলে কথা বলি, সিদ্ধান্ত একসাথেই নিই, আর দায়িত্ব সবার। কোনো বিশেষ কাজের প্রয়োজনে যখন কাউকে ফান্ড সামলানো বা অন্য দায়িত্ব দিতে হয়, তখন সেটা কেবল সেই নির্দিষ্ট সময়ের জন্যই দেওয়া হয়—স্থায়ী পদবি হিসেবে নয়। আমরা বিশ্বাস করি, পদের মোহ দূর করলে ভেতরে কোনো রাজনীতি থাকে না এবং মানুষ মন থেকে কাজ করতে আসে। আমাদের কাছে ইনসেপশন মানে কোনো পদবির পেছনে ছোটা নয়, একসঙ্গে একটি টিম হিসেবে কাজ করা।

আমাদের মূলনীতিগুলো

আমরা কোথায় পৌঁছাতে চাই

আমাদের ভবিষ্যৎ পরিকল্পনা কেবল বছরে একটি উৎসব করার চেয়েও অনেক বড়। আমরা চাই নবীনগরের শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য ইনসেপশন হয়ে উঠুক একটি নিয়মিত প্ল্যাটফর্ম। ভবিষ্যতে আমরা যা করতে চাই:

আমরা চাই স্কুলগুলো ইনসেপশনকে নির্ভরযোগ্য শিক্ষামূলক সঙ্গী হিসেবে দেখুক। আরও বেশি ছেলেমেয়ে তাদের সুপ্ত গুণগুলোকে চিনে নিক। সর্বোপরি, আমরা চাই কেবল সুযোগের অভাবে যেন নবীনগরের কোনো শিক্ষার্থীর স্বপ্ন অঙ্কুরেই ঝরে না পড়ে।

সামনের দিনগুলো

২০২৬ সালের অলিম্পিয়াডের পর আমরা ভবিষ্যৎ আয়োজনগুলো আরও বড় পরিসরে করার পরিকল্পনা করছি, যেখানে অলিম্পিয়াড, ট্রেজার হান্ট, চিত্রাঙ্কন প্রতিযোগিতা ও সায়েন্স শোকেসে আরও বেশি শিক্ষার্থীকে যুক্ত করা হবে। পরিচিত গণ্ডির বাইরের স্কুলগুলোর শিক্ষার্থীদেরও আমরা আমন্ত্রণ জানাতে চাই।

কিন্তু উদ্যোগ বড় করতে গেলে রসদ লাগে। শিক্ষার্থীদের আগ্রহ আছে কি না—সেটা নিয়ে এখন আর কোনো সন্দেহ নেই। আমাদের আসল চ্যালেঞ্জ হলো, শিক্ষার্থীদের নিজেদের জমানো টাকায় চলা একটি দল হিসেবে আমরা কতটা বড় পরিসরে এই সুযোগগুলো দিয়ে যেতে পারব। ঠিক এই কারণেই আমরা এমন ব্যক্তি ও প্রতিষ্ঠানের সাথে পার্টনারশিপ ও সহযোগিতার পথ খুঁজছি—যারা তরুণদের জন্য শিক্ষার সুযোগ ছড়িয়ে দেওয়ার এই স্বপ্নটাকে বিশ্বাস করেন।

আমাদের স্বপ্ন

আমরা এমন এক ইনসেপশনের স্বপ্ন দেখি, যেখানে নবীনগরের একটি শিক্ষার্থীকে পড়াশোনার প্রতি ভালোবাসা খুঁজে পেতে বড় কোনো শহরে ছুটে যেতে হবে না। যেখানে অলিম্পিয়াড, সায়েন্স প্রজেক্ট, বিতর্ক কিংবা মেন্টরশিপ সাধারণ শিক্ষা সংস্কৃতির একটি নিয়মিত অংশ হয়ে উঠবে। যেখানে আজকের শিক্ষার্থীরাই একদিন বড় হয়ে পরবর্তী প্রজন্মের জন্য সেই সুযোগের দরজা খুলে দেবে।

ইনসেপশনের শুরুটা হয়েছিল একটি ছোট্ট প্রশ্ন দিয়ে: “আমাদের এখানে এমন কিছু হয় না কেন?”

আমরা এখনও সেই প্রশ্নের উত্তর খুঁজছি। তফাত কেবল একটাই—আজকের প্রশ্নটা আরও অনেক বড়: “আমরা এখানে আর নতুন কী গড়ে তুলতে পারি?”

এটাই ইনসেপশন। নতুন কিছুর সূচনা।
